!!!IMPORTANT!!!

This game is undergoing massive reworks. Nearly everything on this page is outdated. I am in the process of rewriting it all and recreating the game in a better format. Please bear with me as I do this.

Version

The current version is v.0.0.4. Check out the changes in the dev log.

Main Description

This is my first game. Your character wakes up in a foreign vessel and it is your job to survive in this hostile existence. Before you even know what's going on, the world around you becomes very strange, stranger than you thought possible, and you are thrown into the ever changing depths of Layers. Can you find the way out?

Length

There is about 2 hours of content right now, but that can easily be stretched out or condensed depending on how you play. If you want a quick run-through it can be beaten in about 2 minutes, but you lose out on most of the fun parts and the lore.

Future Plans

I'm in school right now  which takes priority, so stuff's slow. The next update will hopefully include  a new feature for one of the diverging paths and then include more lore and story. Things are getting deep now.

Current Features

  • (Windows only) 5 system based saves. They are saved locally to your PC so they are not destroyed on update
  • Downloadable save files (if system based saves aren't your thing)
  • Hunger and Thirst system
  • Dynamic Inventory Screen (aka it only shows what you got and not what you don't)
  • Battle against various monsters
  • Scavenge for resources
  • Slight battle and scavenge automation in the form of automatons
  • 2 Boss battles (1 optional, 1 repeatable)
  • Some small puzzles
  • One choose your own path section (I am adding more soon)
  • A level system with some abilities
  • Money and shops
  • Capture some enemies to harvest crafting materials
  • The game's path overlaps on itself creating unexpected scenarios
  • Multiple dialogue options available after a certain point
  • Diverging Paths

Why are some "features" only in half the game?

This is my first game and I learned most of what I know as I was going. That means that the game has gotten progressively more polished. I added some features after the beginning was already created. It is possible to add them in the beginning, but this gives the game a better feel with the difficulty and options available increasing the farther you go. it's almost like an accidental tutorial.

People who Have Contributed

  • Eric Matyas - made all of the music in the game. Visit his site at http://soundimage.org/.
  • Dillysim9 - made all of the art in the game except for a few images on this very site.
  • A big shout-out to all the people on Stack Overflow for helping me figure out how to do most of this stuff.

All of them have been a huge help through this and I couldn't have done it without them.

Welp, I just found a bizarre bug. It appears when you go to your inventory after entering the library in the town next to the cave. I will upload a patch to it when I get home. I have no idea what is causing it, but my best idea is that I forgot to include an item when I was making the update. Oops.

I fixed it
